Sailormoon has made it big in North America during the last five or six years. While the Sailormoon hype has died down a bit, it used to be quite popular. In fact, for many, it was the first anime series to really take off in North America in the 90s. It was inevitable that Haruka and Michiru would make it to North American television screens over due time. Those of us who were familiar with the two characters feared the changes that would be made to them. DiC had done a very bad job dubbing Sailormoon... The dub is so bad, it's considered a completely different version to that of the original Japanese one. We all breathed in relief when Cloverway got the rights to dubbing Sailormoon. While they did an excellent job on keeping the original soundtrack, their choice of voice actors ended up being worse than DiC's. Before Cloverway made its move, other companies who dealt with Sailormoon merchandise took Haruka and Michiru's fate into their own hands for a while. Below is some information regarding the names of both women.
Surprisingly, the attacks for Sailoruranus and Sailorneptune weren't changed. In the Cloverway dub, they are kept the same but they include the names of the planets in them: Uranus World Shaking and Neptune Deep Submerge. An unnecessay change, but not too bad. Cloverway occasionally slips and Haruka and Michiru transform with _____ Star Power instead of _____ Crystal Power. Of course, the Make Up! parts are dropped. As for the voice actors, Barbara Radecki does Michelle's voice (dub episodes 83 to 120) and Sara LaFleur does Amara's voice (dub episodes 83 to 120). Radecki has also done the voices for Queen Serenity and Mrs. Tsukino. Click the links for more information on their other roles.
According to Cloverway, Amara and Michelle are cousins. More on that here.
